UX/UI DESIGN

Parafoil

Building healthier relationships through leadership analysis using psycholinguistics

Founding Designer at Applied Humanity Inc.

1 year, 3 months

* This work is under NDA so description and UI is limited

OVERVIEW

Frontline manager’s face the daunting task of learning leadership on the job often with little to no training, pressures of deadlines, and limited access to feedback or mentorship. Parafoil is a digital product that allows frontline managers get post meeting feedback on how their leadership skills are impacting their team, giving them the instant feedback they need to tune into a style that works for them and their team.

As the founding designer, I researched and designed from concept to execution the product thesis as well as the ux and ui. I worked closely with our founding engineer to create a user experience that simplified complex psycholinguistic data while being fast to implement.

Research & Design

Over the course of developing the product, I conducted 6 major research studies along side many iterations of the product ux/ui.

METHODS

Interviews, surveys, simulations, prototypes, ai builders, Figma

  • Conducted semi-structured interviews within three occupation areas in order to develop an ICP

    Outcomes

    • ICP development

    • Built connections with ICP community

    • Deepened understanding of pain points and context

  • Designed a survey to validate and narrow down pain points within the ICP.

    Outcomes

    • Focused list of pain points

    • Deepened understanding of ICP behaviours

  • Using a combo of value props and images, we interviewed ICP folks to test out several different product directions.

    Outcome

    • Refined list of value props

  • After refining our value props, we interviewed ICP again to refine our product direction to a singular path

    Outcome

    • Singular value prop

  • From our value prop I designed a Figma prototype and ran a study as if it were a real product (with the help of my co-workers).

    Outcome

    • Help us change our product direction to be more aligned with the user needs

    • Revealed the need to prioritize a features list

  • Interviewed ICP with wireframe level prototypes of specific features to help prioritize a MVP feature set.

    Outcomes

    • Prioritized list of features

    • Needs & Wants associated with specific features

    • Further pain point refinement

Reflection

In doing this work, I learned a lot about myself and how I can work best as a leader and team member. My biggest takeaway from researching and experiencing leadership in the workplace is that great leadership is founded in trust and communication.
